Rugby Safety
Play Smart, Play Safe, Have Fun!

Safety is the cornerstone of rugby, ensuring that the sport remains not only thrilling but also accessible and enjoyable for everyone involved. As a proud member of Rugby Ontario, the Hamilton Hornets Rugby Club is deeply committed to upholding the highest safety standards outlined by World Rugby, Rugby Canada, and Rugby Ontario. By adhering to these policies, including mandatory concussion awareness through Rowan’s Law and proper use of protective equipment like mouthguards and World Rugby-approved goggles, we work collectively to minimize risks while maximizing the fun and spirit of the game. Educating players, coaches, and supporters about these measures ensures rugby stays safe and empowering for athletes of all ages and skill levels.

At the heart of rugby’s safety culture are the values that define the sport: integrity, passion, solidarity, discipline, and respect. These principles guide every tackle, pass, and scrum, fostering a sense of belonging and camaraderie that transcends the game itself. By prioritizing fair play, honesty, and respect for teammates, opponents, and officials, we create an environment where players can grow in confidence and thrive on and off the field. Safety is not just about preventing injury—it’s about preserving rugby’s unique spirit and ensuring it continues to unite and inspire players and communities worldwide.
