Saturday June 2, 2007 Hamilton senior women got their season of to a flying start. Niagara 2nds came with only 8 players so the Hornets offered Niagara 2 players and played 10-aside for three 15 minute quarters. The first try came two minutes in to the match with some beautiful off-loading in the tackle. Hornets captain, Jessica Hill, off-loaded to Marnie Augello in the tackle. Hill then came back in support to receive Augello's pass back before off-loading to Hope Jervis for the winger to run in. The 2nd try came before the 10 minute mark with a superb solo effort from Hill who had an 80 metre run to score under the posts and convert. The next try was set up by Jervis burning down the right wing to score and extend the Hornets lead to 17 - 0 before the first break. One minute in to the 2nd half winger, Christie ***, broke 3 or 4 tackles to run in from 30 metres out to extend the lead to 22 - 0. Louise *** then subbed in on the wing and made an immediate impact to score another Hornets try to extend the lead to 27 - 0. The final try was set up by Jessica Hill, who had a huge day for the Hornets. Hill made a 40 metre touch line run before off-loading to Jervis who made the final score under the posts. The conversion saw the Hornets to a 34 - 0, much-earned, first win of the season.
