On Saturday the Hamilton Hornets Senior Mens' 1st team played the Burlington Centaurs. On a day suited more for a beer and swimming, the Hornets out played and totally dominated Burlington. So much so was the dominance of Hamilton that after only 30 minutes the referee asked that scrums no longer be contested. From the foundations laid by the rampaging forwards it was left to the backs to finish off Burlington.

After a very good first half Hamilton lead by 31 - 7, having out scored Burlington 5 tries to 1.

After a stern talking to by the captain at half time, the Hornets came out firing on all cylinders. Within the space on 10 minutes following the restart the Hornets had run in 28 unanswered points. This prompted the referee to approach the captain of the Hornets and ask that the game be called off 30 minutes early.

All nine tries scored by the Hornets on the day were team efforts, with the forwards and backs combining effortlessly.

Try scorers on the day were Jamie Whan (2) , Matt Barrett (2) , Paul Roberto, Sean Corner, John Sanderson, Chris Gilks and Clint Crowe. Peter Van Zyl kicked 7 out of 9 conversions.

Final Score: Hamilton 59 v Burlington 7
