| Event: | Hamilton Men defeat Niagara in NRU Cup play-offs | | Type: | Game (Sr Men) | | Details: | Our Senior Men 1st defeated Niagara in round 1 of the NRU Cup Play-offs at home by 17-0.
Niagara proved to continue to be Hamilton's tough nemesis, with strong tackling and running for 90 minutes. Score was tied 0-0 at half. Hamilton's # 9, John Tavares scored 1/2 way through the second half with a tantalizing and swerving run over Niagara's try-line. About 10 minutes later, Hamilton camped out on Niagara's try-line. Niagara's defense was solid, however #6 Tyler Stryker found a hole in thier defense, diving over the ruck with a quick pick. Both tries were converted by # 10 Jamie Whan, and a late minute penalty stamped Hornets authority on the day.
