Juan started playing rugby at age seven in Saldanha, South Africa.
He played for Saldanha Primary School's U9, U11 and U13 teams, before
his family moved to Canada.
Being a keen rugby player, Juan's coaches used him over the years
in various positions - Flanker, Number 8, Fly-Half and Centre. He
was selected to play for Team Ontario U17's at Outside Centre.
